- School Recommendation Scheme for 2008 is an alternative entry scheme into UNE. Your application is based on the recommendation of the school. Applications close the 28 September and is based on your ability to cope with University life, rather than your UAI.

- Engineering scholarships – RTA will sponsor 20 Rural Scholarships to current Yr 12 living in rural/regional NSW. $48,000 (tax free) over the duration of the 5 year Bachelor of Engineering, Diploma in Engineering Practice, with a major in either Civil and Environmental Engineering. - STAR ENTRY SCHEME .If your UAI does not meet SCU cut off entry score, completed STAR application form plus individual subject results, may give you a further chance of gaining entry. Offers are sent prior to Christmas. If you are applying for Bachelor of Education (Primary) or a combined education course you must attach a copy of your Trial results or latest school report. The application is a school recommendation and alternate entry program and independent of UAC. The offer is made directly from the university. The STAR program also applies to students who do not get a UAI. For anyone without a HSC, there is an entry program that can be done by distance education, called The Success Program.

Educational Access Scheme
- If you can demonstrate that your educational performance during Year 11 and /or Year 12 has been seriously affected by circumstances beyond your control, then you can apply for the Educational Access Scheme.

Some categories include – Financial Hardship, Home Environment and Responsibilities, English, Language Difficulties, Personal Illness/Disability.
